Sunflowers

I photographed the sunflowers

tall, bright, new

reaching higher and higher

The rest of the garden was weary

but the sunflowers were powerful

Hasn't rained in nearly three weeks

Seems like the hearty ones thrive

even in the driest of times.

Some info on I'm From Jersey:  Written after my mother's passing, the book was written within one year.  The memories of early childhood to the present day were vivid and the story practically flowed from my fingertips to the screen.  The cover design was created to highlight all the streets I traversed during my childhood or actually lived on.  Each street name holds a memory, for example: Fairview Avenue is where my Aunt and Uncle lived and we visited every Sunday after church, where my uncle would hide a very large Hershey bar and send my sister and I throughout the house looking for it.
